IIM-Calcutta, founded in 1961, is the first IIM to be established and is considered one of the best. Over the years, it has produced many successful alumni who have made significant contributions to various fields.
Here are five famous IIM-Calcutta alumni to know about.
Indra Nooyi, globally-renowned Indian-American business leader, is one of the most famous IIM-Calcutta alumni.
She worked at PepsiCo for over 24 years and retired as CEO in 2018. She's a member of Amazon's board and Independent Director of International Cricket Council (ICC).
After graduating from Madras Christian College, Chennai-born Nooyi obtained MBA from IIM-Calcutta and earned a master's degree from Yale School of Management.
He was appointed as the Chief Economic Adviser in December 2018.
He studied electrical engineering at IIT-Kanpur and later pursued Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) from IIM-Calcutta. He also earned an MBA and PhD in financial economics from Booth School of Business, University of Chicago.
Ajit Balakrishnan, a well-known Indian entrepreneur, is also a noted alumnus of IIM-Calcutta.
He is the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Rediff.com, a news, information, entertainment, and shopping web portal. He founded the leading Mumbai-based internet company in 1995.
He earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Management with MBA from IIM-Calcutta in 1971, after obtaining a BSc degree from the University of Kerala.
Ganesh Krishnan and Meena Ganesh, the co-founders of Bengaluru-based Portea Medical, are also the alumni of IIM-Calcutta. The husband-wife duo graduated from the prestigious IIM in 1985.
They co-founded Portea Medical in 2013 along with Karan Aneja, Manjusha Anumolu, and Zachary Jones. Portea is a leading home healthcare pioneer and the fastest growing provider of in-home medical care in the country.
He co-founded Swiggy, India's fastest growing online food ordering and delivery company, in 2014 along with Nandan Reddy and Rahul Jaimini. Majety is the Chief Executive Officer of the Bengaluru-based unicorn, Swiggy.
