Expanding its portfolio of budget-range smartphones, Xiaomi has launched the new 16GB storage variant of Redmi Go in India today.
To recall, the Chinese tech-giant had recently launched Redmi Go in India with 8GB storage at a price of Rs. 4,499.
Interestingly, the new variant shares the same specs as the existing device; the only difference lies in its storage.
The Android Go operating system (OS) by Google is an optimized version of the Android Oreo OS which is tailored for entry-level smartphones. It runs the Lite version of several Google apps, which load faster, use less data and take up less space.
Redmi Go sports prominent bezels up front while the back looks clean with a single rear camera.
It offers 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) touchscreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 296ppi.
In the camera department, the phone offers an 8MP (f/2.0) rear camera capable of recording videos at 1080p and a 5MP (f/2.2) selfie camera.
The Redmi Go is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, coupled with 1GB RAM and 8/16GB of internal memory which is expandable upto 128GB via micro-SD card.
The smartphone packs a 3,000mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition).
Notably, Android Go operating system is optimized for low-end budget phones with 1GB of RAM or less.
In terms of connectivity options, the Redmi Go supports dual-SIMs with 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Hotspot.
The smartphone comes equipped with GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Further, Redmi Go offers all standard sensors such as an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. However, it lacks a fingerprint scanner.
As far as pricing is concerned, the new variant of Redmi Go is available at Rs. 4,799 in India while the 8GB storage model is still retailing at Rs. 4,499. The phone is available via Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores.
