As the 12th edition of the IPL is set to kick-off from Saturday, all the participating teams are looking to claim the title.
However, the champions of the inaugural edition, Rajasthan Royals (RR) are taking it one step at a time.
In the same light, coach Paddy Upton has backed skipper Ajinkya Rahane as he believes he is the right man to lead Royals.
Speaking about the pressure on Rahane as Royals skipper, Upton said, "I think it will actually be less pressure as the first time you have to adjust a lot more and now, there is more comfort, so I feel he will be more at home."
Upton believes that Rahane has a calm head, and he hardly takes pressure.
Further, he is also against comparing Rahane with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli as he feels that both are unique in their own ways.
Upton believes that Rahane has a good ability to read his team and team-mates and this would allow him to succeed.
Following the completion of the one-year ban imposed by Cricket Australia (CA), former skipper Steve Smith is ready to make another grand return to Royals in the IPL.
Meanwhile, Upton believes that his return is indeed great news for Rahane as Smith is a great skipper.
His suggestions would allow Rahane to improve his decision-making and leadership skills.
Upton has backed both the players to deliver, with all-rounder Stokes being in sensational form in 2019.
Further, Buttler too has been enjoying the form of his life with the bat and Upton believes it would be difficult to keep him quiet.
Despite having performed as a unit, the trophy has eluded Royals since 2008.
Nonetheless, Upton is confident that lady luck would finally shine again on his side this season.
He believes that the side is working hard to make a difference, while new plans and ideas are being constantly worked upon so that the team can flourish in 2019.
