Sanju Samson has been a cricketer with a huge potential.
Time and time again, the promising wicket-keeper batsman has come up with some brilliant knocks across formats.
And this time, the Kerala batsman smashed a historical record in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy.
He registered an unbeaten double ton in a List A match against Goa.
Samson hit an unbeaten 212 in 129 balls, scoring the highest List A score by a wicket-keeper batsman.
He surpassed the 209* by Pakistani cricketer Abid Ali.
His 212* is the highest score in Vijay Hazare Trophy history.
Samson also smashed the fastest List A 200 by an Indian batsman, besides being the first one to do so batting at number three position.
Samson came out to bat for Kerala with the side at 15/1.
From thereon it was his show, as he conquered the KSCA Cricket Ground in Alur.
The right-handed batsman smashed 21 fours and 10 sixes to reach the mammoth individual score.
His heroics helped Kerala post a massive total of 377 for 3 in 50 overs.
Sachin Baby (127) played a crucial knock.
Samson and Baby shared a majestic 338-run stand for the third wicket. This is the highest partnership for the third wicket in List A matches. They overcame TS Curtis and Tom Moody's unbeaten 309-run stand set in 1994 during the match between Worcestershire and Surrey.
Indians to score List A 200s— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) October 12, 2019
3 - Rohit Sharma
1 - Sachin Tendulkar/Virender Sehwag
1 - Shikhar Dhawan (248 for India A v SA-A in Aug 2013)
1 - Karn Kaushal (202 for Uttarakhand) in 2018/19
1 - Sanju Samson (212* for Kerala) - today!
Sanju Samson has done himself a world of good by this massive century.
He is one of the players in the radar of the Indian selectors.
With primary choice Rishabh Pant being a let down in limited-overs, Samson has definitely put himself in the mix.
With all the potential and talent Samson has, it will be a fitting manner to see him represent India.
