Three-time champions Spain qualified for Euro 2020 after earning a 1-1 draw against Sweden.
Rodrigo's injury-time strike helped the side progress.
Italy, who had already qualified earlier, thrashed Liechtenstein 5-0 in an away clash.
There were wins for Finland, Greece and Switzerland on another star-studded night of European football.
Here are the key results from Tuesday's set of matches.
Andrea Belotti scored twice as Italy thrashed Liechtenstein 5-0 in their Group J encounter.
Italy went to half-time at 1-0 and then four goals were scored in the second half.
The 2006 world champions top the group with a 100% winning record from eight games.
Finland are second in Group J (15 points).
Spain needed just a point to advance but left it until the 92nd minute as Rodrigo converted Fabian Ruiz's cutback.
Earlier, Sweden took the lead early in the second half through Marcus Berg's header.
However, David de Gea hobbled off injured in the second half.
He is a doubt for Manchester United's Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday with a possible hamstring injury.
Republic of Ireland's hopes of qualification now rests on the game against Denmark at home next month.
This happened after the side lost 0-2 against Switzerland.
It was a crucial win for the Swiss team, who is now on 11 points and are placed third.
Both Switzerland and Denmark have played one game lesser than Republic of Ireland.
A close finish is expected.
In Group J, Greece beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 2-1 at home. Both teams' hopes of qualification is however not on the cards. Romania and Norway shared the spoils in Group F. The result sees them stay on third and fourth places respectively.
