CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education is a board of education controlled and managed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. CBSE caters to both private and public schools and currently, roughly 20,299 schools in India and 220 schools in 28 foreign countries are affiliated to the board. All CBSE schools follow the NCERT syllabus. The board conducts the final examinations for standards X and XII in March, the results of which are declared in May. Earlier CBSE used to organize the AIEEE exams also, but now JEE Main (its current form) is conducted by NTA. Additionally, the board is also given the responsibility to hold AIPMT, NET, CTET and Class X optional proficiency tests. Record says CBSE is the world’s largest exam conducting body.
