Line Of Actual Control
Line of Actual Control or LAC is the line that demarcates between Indian-controlled territory and Chinese-controlled area in Jammu and Kashmir, a former princely state. LAC was formed after the 1962 war, which lasted for a month, and resulted in the Chinese victory. In early May, a brawl erupted between the troops of both the countries, which was followed by another attack by the Chinese soldiers at several remote areas along the Himalayas. While the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing had accused that “the Indian Army has crossed the line,” India’s Ministry of External Affairs, led by S. Jaishankar has declined to comment. This simmering tension between the two countries does give rise to fears of a war, which experts feel is baseless.
