Civil Services Day
marks the inauguration
of the All India Services in 1947
by India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Sardar Patel had
called civil servants the “steel frame of India”
and set rules for good administration.
The first National
Civil Services Day was celebrated in 2006 at
Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
It has since
become an annual event to celebrate the contributions of civil servants.
The prime minister
honors officers of central
and state governments for extraordinary services.
