Swiss singer, author, dancer, songwriter, and actor Tina Turner passed away on Wednesday in Zurich after a prolonged illness. She was 83 and was known as the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll."

Cause of death

Turner was ill for a long time and battled intestinal cancer in 2016, followed by a kidney transplant in 2017. Her family said she 'died peacefully.'

She was one of the first Black female artists to have a worldwide fanbase. She also performed in a band with her husband between 1960 and 1976, delivering several hits.

Turner's 1980s career phase brought iconic songs and a Guinness World Record for the largest paying audience for a solo performer. About 1,88,000 people attended her show in 1988.
