Amritsar-Jammu bullet train: NHSRCL invites bids to design final route

India

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) is moving ahead with plans for a 240-km bullet train between Amritsar and Jammu, connecting two key cities in Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir.
They're now inviting bids to design the final route, with the deadline set for November 25, 2025.

LiDAR mapping and new rail corridors

This high-speed rail corridor could make travel significantly faster and smoother in northern India, giving a big boost to trade, tourism, and local businesses.
It's also part of a bigger push to bring modern rail tech beyond just Mumbai-Ahmedabad—NHSRCL is using advanced aerial mapping (LiDAR) to plan the route and looking at more new corridors under India's National Rail Plan.
