Assam and Meghalaya prepare 48-hour evacuation operation after Shillong clashes

After recent clashes in Shillong, Assam and Meghalaya are working together on a 48-hour operation to help stranded tourists, passengers, and vehicles get out safely.
The plan was set after a long meeting between top officials from both states on August 22.
Meghalaya files 15 FIRs, arrests 3
Meghalaya has filed 15 FIRs and arrested three Khasi Students's Union leaders linked to the violence.
Over 3,770 Assam-registered vehicles have already been escorted out, with control rooms handling 433 distress calls.
Both states now plan to set up permanent joint teams and helplines to keep travelers safe and prevent future trouble.
