Assam cab operators suspend Meghalaya vehicle blockade after ministers' meeting
India
Good news: Assam cab operators have suspended the blockade against Meghalaya-registered vehicles at the border entry points to Meghalaya after the blockade was suspended for the time being.
The protest began following violence at a Shillong bike rally on August 19, which left 16 people hurt and damaged at least 31 vehicles, including some from Assam.
State ministers from both sides met and agreed to restore movement.
Meghalaya forms SIT to probe violence
Meghalaya has set up a Special Investigation Team to look into the violence, and assurances on safety were given after a ministerial-level meeting between the two states.
Cab operators say they will wait for the investigation results before making further decisions, with another meeting set for Sunday to discuss their demands.
