Assam tensions: Over 150 arrested in Dhubri communal disturbances
More than 150 people have been arrested in Assam's Dhubri district following communal tensions that broke out after Eid-ul-Zuha, sparked by cattle remains found at a temple.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared that 11 of those arrested are from outside Assam and already had cases against them.
Nighttime shoot-at-sight orders are now in place, and the main accused, Mintu Ali, is still missing.
CM Sarma discusses long-term solutions
During his visit to Dhubri, CM Sarma discussed long-term fixes like setting up a permanent Army base to help prevent future trouble.
Even after appeals for calm, more incidents—like fresh cow parts being placed and stone pelting—kept happening.
The government has taken a zero-tolerance stand on illegal cattle slaughter during Bakrid and provocative acts by groups such as 'Nabin Bangla.'
Sarma has promised to hold those responsible accountable and keep working toward peace in the area.
