Bangladesh asks India for extra diesel amid West Asia crisis
India
With the world facing a fuel crunch thanks to ongoing conflicts in West Asia, Bangladesh has asked India for extra diesel.
India's Ministry of External Affairs says it is looking into it, but will have to balance its own energy needs alongside requests from neighbors like the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
India offers Bangladesh 40,000 tons diesel
India and Bangladesh have been trading diesel since 2017 through waterways and rail, and later through the India-Bangladesh friendship pipeline,
Bangladesh has now received a total of 15,000 tons of diesel in recent times, with another 6,000 tons scheduled.
This April, India even offered an extra 40,000 tons for April deliveries, showing how both countries are working together to keep things running during tough times.
