Bar Council chief Manan Kumar Mishra rejects fresh resignation calls
The Bar Council of India's top boss, Manan Kumar Mishra, is staying put despite fresh calls for his resignation from Co-Chairman YR Sadasiva Reddy.
Reddy accused Mishra of mishandling funds and making questionable decisions, but Mishra fired back on August 22, 2026, questioning why these claims are coming up only now and pointing out that Reddy did not contest the State Bar Council elections.
YR Sadasiva Reddy alleges 150cr diversion
Reddy claimed Mishra diverted ₹150 crore by creating a new trust in 2020 and criticized his move to bar NALSAR Hyderabad graduates from enrolling with State Bar Councils.
In response, Mishra dismissed the allegations and emphasized his six unanimous re-elections as proof of support from the legal community, and said, "For the last six tenures I have been elected as the chairman of the Bar Council of India unanimously."
