Beach wedding on a budget? Tamil Nadu offers ₹10,000 package
Dreaming of a wedding by the sea?
The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) just launched an official beach wedding scheme, letting couples book private beach access at Mamallapuram for ₹10,000, with accommodation available for roughly ₹5,000 for up to 22 hours.
Catering is optional (vegetarian meals are ₹700 per head, nonvegetarian is ₹1,100) and you'll handle your own decorations.
Staying overnight at the resort costs another ₹5,000.
Gold and cash for qualifying couples
If you qualify under the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Scheme, there's extra help: up to ₹50,000 cash, and eligible beneficiaries may receive eight grams of gold for your mangalsutra.
Bookings are open on the TTDC website.
Upgrading Tamil Nadu's beaches
This scheme isn't just about weddings: it's part of Tamil Nadu's plan to attract more tourists and upgrade beaches like Marina and Kovalam to global standards.
Private resorts like VGP Golden Beach Resort and Leela Kovalam also offer fancy beach weddings but generally charge higher fees, so the TTDC option is positioned as a more affordable alternative.
