'Bengal will not let me go...': Governor Bose's emotional farewell
West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose has stepped down after three years, describing his exit as a conscious decision in remarks to reporters, and offering an emotional farewell in a letter.
He called Bengal his "second home" and said, quoting Gandhi, "I am not able to leave Bengal and Bengal will not let me go."
The letter was shared right after his farewell meeting with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Tension ahead of state elections
Bose's goodbye comes just as political tensions heat up ahead of the 2026 state elections.
He thanked leaders like President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi for their support and mentioned he will now return to Kerala for the Viksit Bharat initiative.
Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi, whom Bose calls a "dear friend," will take over.
For young people watching politics, it is a rare glimpse into the personal side of public service, full of gratitude, nostalgia, and respect for the place he served.
