CBI busts Chandigarh ECHS scam involving Manthan directors, Dharam Hospital
The CBI has busted a big scam in the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) in Chandigarh.
This scheme, meant to support retired military personnel with health care, was allegedly manipulated by Dr. Vikas Sharma and Dr. Rimple Gupta, directors of M/s Manthan Health Care, along with Dharam Hospital.
They reportedly faked documents, misused emergency rules, and skipped proper referrals to claim extra money from the scheme.
CBI finds forged records, WhatsApp evidence
During a surprise check on February 24, 2026, investigators found forged patient records and fake medical paperwork at both hospitals.
WhatsApp chats showed the accused were actively coordinating these fake claims together, even though Manthan Health Care wasn't officially allowed to handle ECHS cases.
The CBI also found evidence of a commission network and revenue-sharing deals among those involved, making this look like an organized operation.
Now, officials are digging deeper to see if anyone inside ECHS helped out—and they're expanding the probe to other facilities too.
