Curtains erected around Delhi's 'Coolie camp' slum before BRICS summit

Just before the BRICS summit in Delhi, a tall white and purple curtains around the "Coolie Camp" slum near Nelson Mandela Marg and Munirka Marg were put up.
The idea? To keep the area out of sight from visiting foreign dignitaries.
About 281 households live here, according to government data.

The curtains have made it harder for people to get in and out, hitting local vendors' incomes and putting extra financial stress on tenants.
Despite some cleanup, basic issues like an overflowing garbage bin remain.
Many residents feel frustrated that appearances are being prioritized over real help.
One resident said the curtains are a temporary solution that doesn't address their real problems. Others want proper housing instead of quick fixes.
