Decomposed body believed Pakistani JeM terrorist, M4 found in Seojdhar
India
A decomposed body, believed to be a Pakistani Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist, was discovered in the Seojdhar forest of Doda district, Jammu and Kashmir, on September 12, 2026.
The joint team from local police, Army, and CRPF also found an American-made M4 carbine and ammunition nearby.
Officials suspect death from past encounter
Officials suspect the person died from injuries after an encounter last year while hiding out in the forest.
Seojdhar has a history as a route used by JeM militants to sneak into India and set up hideouts.
Before this find, top police officers reviewed security at the Doda-Kathua-Udhampur trijunction on September 10 to step up counterterrorism efforts and keep these areas safer.
