Delhi AQI falls to 62 during 18th BRICS Summit
India
Delhi is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit, with big names like Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin in town.
Coincidentally, the city's air quality has taken a turn for the better: the air quality index (AQI) dropped to 62 at around 4pm on September 12, way down from earlier highs of 133 and 155 this week.
Monsoon winds lower Delhi pollution temporarily
Thanks to monsoon showers and shifting winds, Delhi's air feels fresher right now.
The India Meteorological Department expects more rain soon, which helps clear out pollution.
Still, this clean streak is just temporary. Once dry weather returns, pollution levels are likely to climb again.
