Delhi mandates PNG application for commercial and industrial LPG
Starting April 2026, Delhi's commercial and industrial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) users will need to apply for a piped natural gas (PNG) connection where the PNG network is available before they can get new cylinder supplies.
The government hopes this switch will help manage gas shortages linked to the West Asia conflict and ease pressure on LPG supply and encourage the shift to PNG.
IGL areas must show PNG application
If your area has Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL)'s PNG lines, you'll need proof that you've applied or that you plan to connect.
No network? Just sign a declaration of intent.
Oil companies have been told to double-check these details before handing over any more LPG cylinders.
There's also an exception process if your business genuinely needs both types of gas: just expect some paperwork and extra approvals.
