Delhi readies airports for around 35 BRICS Summit aircraft
Delhi is rolling out a big aviation plan for the BRICS Summit, making space for around 35 special aircraft.
IGI and Palam will handle arrivals, while Noida International Airport, Safdarjung Airport, Hindon Airport, and other airports are part of the parking plan.
VVIP flights get their own secure area at Palam, so regular commercial flights aren't disrupted.
DGCA imposes 300km nonscheduled flight restriction
To keep things safe, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has imposed a 300-kilometer airspace restriction on nonscheduled flights (except approved BRICS ones).
Security agencies are working together: routes for VVIPs are decided last minute, scheduled flights are tweaked to avoid clashes, and private jets face strict checks.
Drones, light aircraft, and micro-light aircraft are restricted in the restricted zone.
On the ground, even fuel is tested to prevent tampering, all aimed at keeping operations smooth during this high-profile event.
