Delhi sees 114 new H1N1 infections as cases reach 1,777
India
Delhi just saw a big jump in H1N1 (swine flu) cases (114 new infections in one day), pushing the city's total to 1,777 this year. Overall, 2,602 influenza cases have been reported so far.
With numbers rising, the government is asking everyone to wear masks in crowded spots, keep up with handwashing, and see a doctor if you have symptoms like fever or sore throat.
Delhi ramps up monitoring and testing
To handle the surge, 35 hospitals are now under special watch.
AIIMS and the National Centre for Disease Control are identified as referral laboratories for testing and monitoring.
The health minister says there are enough beds and medicines ready if things get worse, and daily reviews plus awareness drives are underway to help keep everyone safe.
