Dev Deepawali: 25L diyas lit in Varanasi, PM Modi praises

India

On November 5, Varanasi's ghats turned into a sea of light as about 25 lakh earthen lamps were lit for Dev Deepawali, a festival unique to the city and celebrated 15 days after Diwali.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started things off at Dashashwamedh Ghat, also honoring soldiers with a replica Amar Jawan Jyoti.

More on the festival

Prime Minister Modi called the sight "spectacular," with millions of diyas glowing across the ghats and Kashi Vishwanath Temple.
There was even a laser show telling Kashi's story, plus major security to keep things smooth.
Dev Deepawali isn't just about lights—it marks Lord Shiva's win over evil and draws millions who come for Ganga Aarti, holy dips, and some seriously magical vibes you won't find anywhere else.
