India
A herd of elephants attacked villagers in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district on Friday, leaving three people dead (including two young brick kiln workers and a 73-year-old man) and one person injured.
The elephants caused panic as they chased people in the area, and are believed to have been involved in earlier incidents too.
Brick kiln operator detained after protests
After the attacks, villagers protested and delayed body retrieval until police stepped in. The brick kiln operator was detained for questioning.
Local officials have urged everyone to avoid sleeping outdoors or wandering in forests early in the morning.
With another elephant sighting reported nearby, the Forest Department is stepping up warnings and support to help keep locals safe.
