Four Delhi residents freed from cyber-scam trafficking in Myanmar

India

Four people from Delhi have been rescued after being trapped in a "cyber-slavery" scam in Myanmar.
They were promised high-paying data-entry jobs on social media, but ended up forced to create fake profiles of women to lure male US citizens into fake investment opportunities.
Their captors demanded $4,000 for release or made them keep working the scam.

How the scam worked—and what police did

The victims' journey started with fake job offers online, leading them from Delhi to Kolkata, then Thailand, and finally across a river into Myanmar. There, they were held captive and pressured into cybercrime.
After investigating, Delhi Police arrested two recruiters behind the scheme—Danish Raja and Harsh—who had also worked at Myawaddy as cyber fraudsters.
Deputy Commissioner Vinit Kumar called it a highly organized operation with very limited ways out for victims.
