Himachal launches ₹1,500 transfers and free electricity schemes October 2
India
Big news for Himachal Pradesh: two welfare schemes roll out on October 2.
One is the Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh Samman Nidhi, which sends ₹1,500 directly to the bank accounts of about 2.5 lakh women aged 21-60.
The other offers up to 300 units of free electricity to 1.80 lakh families struggling financially.
Women's scheme targets 21-60, applications verified
Most applications for the women's scheme have already been verified, and the final list will be out by September 25.
Women over 60 are covered under existing pension plans, so this scheme focuses on younger adults.
For families getting free electricity, selection was done using local data, and the women's scheme uses direct transfers to make sure help reaches people quickly and without hassle.
