Himachal Pradesh records 111 deaths from natural disasters in FY2026
Himachal Pradesh has faced a tough year; heavy rains and natural disasters have led to 111 deaths so far in the current financial year 2026.
Sirmaur district was hit hardest, reporting 87 lives lost, while Lahaul-Spiti saw 16. Other districts like Solan, Mandi, Kangra, and Kullu were also affected.
On the bright side, three cloudbursts were recorded, but thankfully didn't lead to any injuries or deaths.
Himachal infrastructure, central government ₹802.56cr
The storms didn't just impact people; they took a toll on infrastructure too. Kangra alone saw damage to 736 roads and Lahaul-Spiti had four bridges affected.
Solan had the most houses damaged, with 239 affected.
Relief funds have reached 1,871 families so far, though 1,260 claims are still pending because many had not applied through the RMS portal or had incomplete applications.
The central government has stepped in with ₹802.56 crore to help Himachal get back on its feet.
