'Hindu girls forced to convert, sexually exploited': UP lodge case
An investigation has uncovered a disturbing forced conversion and sexual exploitation racket at a lodge in Basti, Uttar Pradesh.
A survivor said more than 350 women, whom she said were Hindu, were targeted through social media with fake promises of marriage or jobs, then confined, pressured to change their religion, and subjected to abuse—all just steps away from a police outpost.
Similar cases have surfaced elsewhere in UP
Women who escaped shared how they were confined, were told they would be married, or were subjected to other demands to secure their release.
One survivor even rescued a 16-year-old girl who'd been assaulted.
While one accused has been arrested, the case faces roadblocks like alleged police interference and threats against survivors.
Sadly, similar cases have surfaced elsewhere in UP, showing it's not an isolated problem.
