India, UAE team up for 'Desert Cyclone II' military drills this December

India

India and the UAE are coming together for the second round of their joint military exercise, Desert Cyclone II, happening in Abu Dhabi from December 18 to 30, 2024.
Both sides will send 45 soldiers each to train side by side, focusing on how to work together in tricky urban environments and under United Nations-style missions.

What's new this time?

This year's drills aren't just about teamwork—they're diving into real-world scenarios like fighting in built-up city areas and planning detailed missions.
There's also a tech twist: both armies will practice using drones and anti-drone tactics for peacekeeping and counter-terrorism.
It's all part of India's growing defense ties with the UAE.

Building on stronger bonds

Desert Cyclone II follows a series of high-level visits between Indian and UAE military leaders earlier this year (2024), showing both countries are serious about deepening their defense partnership.
