India unveils hypersonic missile surpassing BrahMos
India is about to test the ET-LDHCM, a next-gen hypersonic missile from Project Vishnu.
This missile can zip through the sky at Mach 8 (about 11,000km/h) and hit targets up to 1,500km away.
It packs more punch than the well-known BrahMos and can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads weighing between 1,000 and 2,000kg.
Scramjet engine and heat-resistant build
The ET-LDHCM runs on a scramjet engine that uses air for fuel, letting it fly super fast while dodging radar by staying low.
Its heat-resistant build can handle crazy temperatures—up to 2,000°C—and its engine has already passed tough ground tests.
ET-LDHCM will put India in an elite club
With its speed, range, and ability to launch from land, sea or air, ET-LDHCM puts India in an elite club with Russia, the US, and China—countries that have working hypersonic missiles.
It's a big step up for India's defense tech.
