Indian Railways tightens emergency quota ticket booking rules: Know how
Indian Railways just made it stricter to get train tickets under the Emergency Quota (EQ).
From now on, you'll need to put in your EQ request at least a day before your train leaves—no more last-minute scrambling.
The move is all about making things fairer and cutting down on misuse.
Who gets to use the EQ 1st?
Top priority goes to High Official Requisition (HOR) holders, Central Government Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Judges.
After that, the remaining quota is allocated based on factors such as medical emergencies, bereavement, official duty, or job interviews.
Authorities will double-check every application
You have to submit your EQ request by noon or 4pm the day before (depending on when your train leaves), and same-day requests are out.
Plus, authorities will double-check every application to make sure only real emergencies get through.
