Israel-Iran conflict disrupts Kerala's cargo movement

India

The Israel-Iran conflict has thrown a wrench into Kerala's export business, especially for perishable goods like fruits and veggies.
With flights to the Gulf suspended—Kerala's main export market—shipments from major airports have mostly come to a standstill.

Exporters say cargo movement has dropped by 95%

Kerala usually sends out about 200 tons of cargo daily, but most of it flies on regular passenger planes since there aren't dedicated cargo flights.
Now, with Gulf airspace closed, nearly all exports are stuck.
Sending perishables by sea isn't an option—they just won't last that long.

India worried about oil supplies too

Exporters say cargo movement has dropped by 95%, putting pressure not just on local businesses but also on families who rely on this trade—including many with relatives working in the Gulf.
Plus, India is worried about oil supplies too, since key shipping routes like the Strait of Hormuz are under threat due to the conflict.
