Jan Vishwas Bill raises Delhi Metro fine up to ₹5,000
India
Delhi Metro just got tougher on people selling stuff without permission.
Thanks to the new Jan Vishwas Bill passed this week, anyone caught selling inside metro trains or stations without approval will soon attract a penalty of up to ₹5,000, way up from the old ₹400 penalty.
The idea is to make enforcement smoother by treating these as civil, not criminal, offenses.
Change follows Delhi Metro distribution incidents
This move comes after repeated incidents of people distributing things or asking for donations inside metro coaches, like that case last December with religious materials.
By raising fines and simplifying rules, officials hope to keep your daily commute hassle-free and maintain order in the metro system.
