J&K weather: Rain, snow, thunderstorms expected from today
Jammu and Kashmir is in for a weather switch-up starting Wednesday (March 11), with cloudy skies, light to moderate rain across many areas, and fresh snowfall in the higher parts of north and central Kashmir.
The forecast also mentions thunderstorms rolling through, bringing gusty winds up to 40km/h.
Unusually warm spell
This comes right after an unusually warm spell, Jammu recently hit 31.2 degrees Celsius (almost six degrees Celsius above normal), while Katra soared to 30.4 degrees Celsius (over nine degrees Celsius higher than usual).
The sudden rain and snow could mess with travel on mountain roads, pause farming activities for a couple of days, and bring some much-needed relief from the heat.
If you're out or have plans in the hills, keep an eye on updates—this kind of weather is pretty typical for March here but can still shake up routines.
