Karnataka government releases crowd control SoPs
After 11 people lost their lives in a stampede outside Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's IPL victory celebrations on June 4, Karnataka is rolling out new rules to keep big events safer.
The government has introduced detailed crowd management guidelines and is pushing for a Crowd Control Bill to make sure organizers take safety seriously.
Safety audits must for large gatherings
Venues will now need risk checks and safety audits before hosting large crowds—no exceptions.
Police and event organizers must team up on security plans, crowd limits, and emergency exits.
If a place doesn't meet these standards, the event can't happen.
Proposed law brings penalties for organizers
The proposed law brings real consequences: up to three years in jail or hefty fines (₹5 lakh) for organizers who don't follow the rules.
Police can even call off or postpone unsafe events.
While political rallies and concerts are covered, religious gatherings won't be affected by this Bill.
