Kerala Police bust major gelatin stick smuggling racket
India
Kerala Police just stopped a mini-lorry on the Walayar-Vadakkenchery Highway and found about 4,000 gelatin sticks and 17 detonators hidden under watermelons.
The bust happened around 9pm on Tuesday after a tip-off, with Inspector Vipin Kumar leading the team.
The driver was arrested and is being questioned
The driver, Senthil Kumar from Tamil Nadu, was arrested and is being questioned. The explosives were headed from Salem to Thrissur and are worth lakhs.
A bomb squad is handling the stash safely while police dig deeper into who was supposed to get these explosives—and whether they had any legal clearance at all.
This isn't the first time either; similar smuggling cases have popped up along this border before.
