Kerala Police to book convict for naming 2017 actress gang rape survivor
Kerala Police are moving to charge Martin Antony, one of the men convicted in the 2017 Malayalam actor gang rape case, after he revealed the survivor's name in a previously recorded video.
Sharing a survivor's identity is illegal in India, and police say they'll also act against anyone who posted or spread the video on social media.
How this unfolded and what's next
The survivor recently met Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, sharing links to Antony's video where he not only named her but claimed the case against Dileep was fabricated and that there was a conspiracy against Dileep.
Following her complaint, police were told to register cases against Antony and others involved.
The original crime saw six men—including Antony—convicted for abducting and assaulting the actor in 2017. Dileep, once accused of masterminding the attack over a personal grudge, was acquitted due to lack of evidence.
