Kerala: Temperatures to touch 40 Celsius in coming days
India
Kerala's been heating up since early March, with temperatures hitting over 38 Celsius in Kannur and Kottayam, way above the usual 32 Celsius for this time of year.
The IMD says things aren't cooling down anytime soon, with highs close to 40 Celsius expected across northern and central parts through late March and April.
Humidity is also on the rise, making it feel even warmer.
IMD issues health advisory
The IMD warns that temperatures above 37 Celsius plus high humidity can be tough on your body.
On Thursday (March 11, 2026), eight spots in Kerala recorded a UV index of eight (an orange-level UV alert); a state disaster-management authority advised avoiding prolonged sun exposure to reduce the risk of skin damage and heat-related illnesses.
