Kerala WCD proposes measures to protect missing and trafficked children
Keralam has proposed new ways to protect children from going missing and being trafficked.
At a recent meeting with other southern states, the Women and Child Development Department (WCD) suggested spotting families at risk, building community support, training teachers and anganwadi workers, running awareness drives, and making sure children who return home get proper counseling.
WCD urges early support, stricter checks
The WCD made it clear that just cracking down isn't enough; children often disappear because of tough social or money problems.
Their plan focuses on helping vulnerable families early on and teaching communities how to spot warning signs.
They also want stricter checks on things like illegal adoptions, forced labor, and shady placement agencies, plus better systems for tracing infants and supporting young domestic workers.
