Maharashtra: Ajit Pawar's son told to pay ₹42cr stamp duty

India

Parth Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, has been told to pay ₹42 crore in stamp duty after canceling a sale deed for 40 acres of government land in Pune.
The original deal was worth ₹300 crore but registered with just a ₹500 stamp duty instead of the required ₹21 crore, sparking concerns about undervaluation and loss to the state.

Pawar orders probe into deal

Parth and his cousin Digvijay Patil's firm claimed a big stamp duty exemption by saying they'd build a data center, but dropped the project later.
With controversy growing, Ajit Pawar called the deal "completely beyond our understanding" and ordered an investigation.
An FIR was filed against three people—including Patil and a suspended sub-registrar—for allegedly conspiring to dodge ₹6 crore in stamp duty.
Parth's name isn't in the FIR despite being a co-owner, raising more questions as police continue their probe.
