Monsoon progress slows in north-west India
The IMD says the monsoon is moving slowly across North-West India, especially from Barmer to Halwara.
Still, it's made progress into parts of UP, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
There's hope Delhi could get its rains earlier than usual—maybe even before June 30.
Delay due to absence of western disturbance
This delay is mainly because a key weather system (the western disturbance) hasn't shown up yet.
Even so, some regions like West Bengal, Sikkim, Gujarat coast, Konkan and Goa got heavy showers on June 22—enough to push overall rainfall slightly above normal for the day.
More heavy rain is expected in the coming days and could help kickstart the monsoon in other areas too.
IMD forecasts more downpours for northwest India in coming days

This should help strengthen the monsoon further—a relief for farmers and anyone worried about water shortages this season.
