Mumbai's famous BEST red busses are getting a huge upgrade: think more electric busses, modern depots, and smoother rides.
The city just greenlit the ₹28,000 crore Kayapalat plan to help pay off liabilities, revamp old operations, and expand the fleet so public transport keeps up with Mumbai's millions of commuters.
Redevelopment of 22 depots via PPP
The plan will turn 22 bus depots into cool multi-use urban hubs through public-private partnerships (but BEST keeps the land).
Money from these projects will help BEST pay liabilities and buy new busses: deliveries are already rolling out and should finish by 2027.
