Mumbai's air is cleaner this December—here's why it matters
Mumbai just had a big win for its lungs: air quality in the first half of December was way better than last year, with AQI dropping from 158-167 to a much milder 105-113.
The city managed to keep things "moderate" during the first half of December, which is a refreshing change.
What changed? BMC stepped up
The BMC got serious this season—think deep road cleaning at hundreds of spots, mist spraying to keep dust down, and cracking down on construction sites breaking pollution rules.
Dr. Avinash Dhakne from the BMC attributed the improvement to these sustained efforts.
Fewer bad-air days, more good ones
Here's some real progress: days with severe pollution have significantly decreased while "good air" days have increased—a pretty solid upgrade for everyone breathing Mumbai air.
Keep it going—your choices matter
Deputy Commissioner Avinash Kate is asking everyone to pitch in by skipping things like burning waste that make pollution worse.
