Mumbai's new elevated freeway: Quicker Thane to South Mumbai trips incoming

India

Mumbai just kicked off construction on a 13.9km, six-lane elevated road from Thane's Anand Nagar to Ghatkopar's Chheda Nagar.
Once it's done, you'll be able to reach South Mumbai in just 25-30 minutes—way faster than now—and the always-packed Eastern Express Highway should finally get some relief.

What makes this project stand out?

This corridor links up key spots like Mulund, Airoli, JVLR, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg, Mankhurd, and Ghatkopar, plus connects with the Anand Nagar-Saket Elevated Road for easy access to the Samruddhi Expressway.
The route was even tweaked to save 127 Pink Trumpet trees (and they're planting over 4,000 more), so it's a win for commuters and nature.
It also means less traffic and lower emissions—a big step forward for Mumbai's infrastructure.
