Narendra Modi pitches Seafarers's Emergency Support Network at BRICS summit
India
Prime Minister Modi just pitched a Seafarers's Emergency Support Network at the BRICS summit in New Delhi.
He emphasized how crucial sailors are to world trade, and pointed out that they often face serious risks, especially during international conflicts.
Network aids sailors after Hormuz attacks
Modi's idea comes as attacks on sailors/seafarers in the Strait of Hormuz have come amid the U.S.-Iran conflict began earlier this year.
The proposed network would connect the maritime authorities and diplomatic missions of relevant countries, helping sailors with medical aid, distress alerts, family notifications, and evacuations when things get tough.
