NHRC probes alleged ₹5cr demand by Bhagwant Mann's wife

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is looking into serious claims that the wife of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann asked for ₹5 crore to cover up a rape case.
The complaint states that these allegations were made by former Punjab judge Justice Ranjit Singh.
Now, Punjab's top officials have two weeks to investigate and report back.

The NHRC also wants answers about why some government schools in rural and border areas of Punjab did not celebrate Independence Day this year.
They have asked the state for details on flag hoisting and the National Anthem, raising concerns about equal opportunities for all students to take part in national events.
