No power in parts of Chennai today? Here's why

India

Heads up, Chennai! TANGEDCO is rolling out planned power cuts this Wednesday, November 5, across the city and some nearby districts.
The outages will last five to eight hours as crews work on important upgrades to substations and feeders—basically, they're aiming for a more reliable electricity supply in the long run.

Where and when to expect outages

Expect power cuts in Anaimalai (9am-4pm), Mariyammankovil (9am-3pm), and Sathamangalam (9am-2pm).
Theni (9am-5pm), Veerapandi (10am-4pm), and Trichy (9:45am-4pm) are also affected.
Both homes and businesses will feel it, but electricity is expected to be restored after the maintenance period.

Plan ahead during these outages

These scheduled outages might disrupt your day, but they're all about making sure future power supply is smoother.
If you're in these areas, it's a good idea to plan ahead—charge your devices early and get any important work done before the lights go out.
