Noida, Ghaziabad residents won't get Ganga water for 3 weeks

India

If you live in Ghaziabad or Noida, heads up: your tap water from the Ganga is on hold and is expected to resume around October 22-23, 2025, based on the official timeline.
The annual maintenance of the Upper Ganga Canal kicked off on October 2, so the usual supply from Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam's treatment plants is temporarily stopped.

Canal is getting its annual clean-up and maintenance

The canal, which brings water all the way from Haridwar, is getting its yearly clean-up and repairs.
Even after it reopens, it'll take a couple more days for water to reach city plants and get things flowing again.
Meanwhile, local authorities are stepping up—Ghaziabad will use borewells and has lined up 72 tankers if needed; Noida says they'll keep taps running with groundwater.
So while you might notice a change in your water source for now, efforts are on to keep everyone covered until things get back to normal.
